Entrance Exams Conducted by IITs
IITs are a group of engineering and management institutes of India which are governed by Institutes of Technology.
Here is the list of exams which are conducted by Indian Institutes of Technology.
JEE Advanced (Joint Entrance Examination) for B.Tech
JAM (Joint Admission Test for M.Sc.)
GATE (Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering) for M.Tech and PhD programmes
CEED (Common Entrance Exam for Design) for M. Des and PhD programmes
JEE Advanced Examination
JEE Advanced is a national level engineering exam which is conducted by seven zone’s IITs across the India for admission to Bachelor’s, Integrated Master’s and Dual Degree programs in 23 IITs.
Eligibility Criteria –
JEE Advanced is second step of JEE Examination. Candidates who qualify the first step of JEE Exam which is JEE Mains, only they can apply for JEE Advanced.
Students should have at least 75% marks in class 12th or the top 20 percentiles in the boards.
Candidates should have been born on or after October 1, 1992.
The candidates from SC, ST and PwD. category get five-year relaxation i.e. should have been born before October 1, 1987.
Students have 2 attempts to qualify the JEE Advanced.
IIT JAM (Joint Admission Test for M.Sc.)
IIT JAM is an entrance exam for M.Sc. which is conducted by IITs and IISc on rotational basis every year.
On the basis of JAM Score candidates get admission in IITs & IISc for M.Sc. (2 years), Joint M.Sc.-PhD, M.Sc.-PhD Dual Degree, M.Sc.-M.Tech., M.Sc.-M.S. (Research)/PhD Dual Degree, Integrated PhD Programme and other Post-Bachelor Degree Programs.
IIT JAM is conducted in seven subjects –
Biological Sciences
Biotechnology
Chemistry
Geology
Mathematics
Mathematical Statistics
Physics
Eligibility Criteria –
Candidates with any nationality can apply for this exam.
There is no age limit.
Candidates should have bachelor’s degree as a qualifying examination degree, must be passed with minimum 55% aggregate marks if they are from General and OBC-NCL category or minimum 50% if they are from SC/ST/PwD category.

GATE - Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering
GATE is a national level qualifying examination to get admission for Post- Graduate courses in Engineering/ Technology/ Architecture and Science programmes at IITs.
It is jointly conducted by IISc and seven IITs (IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, IIT Guwahati, IIT Kanpur, IIT Kharagpur, IIT Madras and IIT Roorkee).
Eligibility Criteria –
Bachelor’s degree holders in Engineering/Technology (4 years after 10+2 or 3 years after B.Sc./Diploma in Engineering/Technology) and those who are in the final year of such programs
Bachelor’s degree holders of Four-year program in Science (B.S.) and those who are in the final year of such programs
Bachelor’s degree holders in Architecture (Five years course) and those who are in the final year of such programs
Holders of Five-year Integrated Master’s degree or Dual Degree in Engineering/Technology and those who are in the fourth or higher year of such programs
Master’s degree holders in any branch of Science/ Mathematics/ Statistics/Computer Applications or equivalent and those who are in the final year of such programs
Holders of Four-year Integrated Master’s degree (Post B.Sc.) in Engineering/Technology and those who are in the second or higher year of such programs
CEED (Common Entrance Exam for Design)
Common Entrance Exam for Design is conducted by IIT Bombay to offer admissions at IISc Bangalore, IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, IIT Guwahati, IIT Kanpur, IIITDM Jabalpur and UPES Dehradun for Master of Design (M.Des) Programs.
Eligibility Criteria –
Candidates should have degree / diploma / post graduate degree programme of 4 years or 3+2 years (after 10+2 level)
Candidates who are in final year of qualifying degree can also apply for the exam.
There is no age limit to apply.
